National Aviation Services (NAS) Supports Gender Diversity through IATA’s 25by2025 Initiative

Johannesburg, South Africa: Saturday, 25 December 2021

National Aviation Services (NAS), the fastest growing aviation services provider in the emerging markets has signed IATA’s 25by2025 gender diversity initiative. 25by2025 is a voluntary initiative for aviation to improve female representation in the industry. The campaign is an initial step to making the aviation industry more gender balanced.

Rabah Bu Hamdan, Group Chief Human Resources Officer for NAS said, “With employees from more than 65 nationalities, diversity and inclusion are an important part of our corporate culture. NAS introduces new virtual HR assistant- NASsie

Johannesburg, South Africa: Friday, 24 December 2021

In our ongoing digital transformation efforts, NAS HR recently introduced NASsie, a mobile application that can be used by employees as an HR assistant for all HR related queries and requests. The user friendly chatbot provides employees with a simple, easy to use interface to access standard operating procedure documentation, policies, on-boarding processes, labor rights information, company news updates, internal communications and employee directories. It also assists in raising requests and tracking them.

NASsie is available for download on Android as well as Apple devices anytime, any where and provides support to employees 24/7. The application is currently available in English and Arabic and will soon support French, Portuguese and Swahili to cover the diverse nationalities working at NAS. NASsie is thus aimed at becoming the most convenient tool for employee engagement, assistance and communication.

NAS and Colossal Africa Close on Acquisition of BidAir Services

Johannesburg, South Africa: Thursday, 23 December 2021

The acquisition of BidAir Services, South Africa’s largest ground handling company from the BidVest Group was closed on 14 June 2021. National Aviation Services (NAS), Colossal Africa and a consortium of current executive management from BidAir Services announced the closing after the fulfillment of all final requirements from the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) and other regulatory approvals.

Following the acquisition, BidAir Services becomes NAS Colossal Aviation Services and is part of NAS, the largest airport services network in Africa. The company will continue to provide comprehensive ground handling services to nine South African airports and serve 28 airline customers in the country. NAS and Colossal Africa to Acquire South Africa’s Largest Ground Handler – BidAir Services

South Africa’s largest ground handling company, BidAir Services will be changing hands. National Aviation Services (NAS), Colossal Africa and a consortium comprised of the current executive management team have signed an agreement to acquire BidAir Services from the Bidvest Group. The closing of the acquisition is subject to fulfilling final requirements from the Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) that manages South African airports as well as other regulatory approvals.

BidAir Services provides quality-handling services including passenger and ramp handling, load control and operations, cleaning, toilet and water services, amongst others at nine South African airports. The airports include three main international gateways - O.R. Tambo International in Johannesburg, Cape Town International and King Shaka International in Durban.
